City Crime Branch is a specialized investigating agency under the Commissionerate. Cases/ enquiries of importance referred by the Commissioner of Police would be investigated or enquired by this branch. This Unit is headed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police.

City Crime Branch is formed on the lines of C.O.D (Corps of Detectives) of the state with 5 squads namely:

• Homicide & Burglary Squad – I
• Homicide & Burglary Squad – II
• Fraud Squad
• Special Enquiry Squad and
• Women & Narcotic Squad

Each Squad is headed by the Commissioner of Police with 4 - 5 Police Inspectors to take up investigation of serious cases.
